HDSN helped conduct an Oral Urgent Treatment (OUT) training for Primary Health Care Workers in, Mahendranagar, a far western region of Nepal from the 15th of February till the 28th of February 2010. The traning was mainly facilitated by Dr. Kiran Raj Awasthi with the help of two local trainers from the Mahakali Zonal Hospital. All together 20 trainees were selected from the Farwestern and Midwestern region only, for the training. The 14 day training comprised of teaching the health workers on oral health, diseases in oral health and also to do simple extrations in case of emergencies. The training comprised of 6 days of theory and 7 days of camp. The camp was held at the Zonal hospital where the treatment was given for free. During the seven days of the camp, the trainess treated 415 patients and extracted 300 teeth of 281 patients. The patients were also given the necessary medicines free of cost. The trainees were given a certificate as well as a an extraction instrument set to take back to their respective health centres.
