Programmes

A. Oral Health Programme

Oral Health Programmes are the core of HDSN. It is one of the leading and few organizations in Nepal that is working for better oral health through various preventive, promotive and curative services. It has signed a 5 year Memorandum of Understanding with the Oral Health Focal Point, Department of Health Services, Government of Nepal in November 2008. It therefore run programs for the Government as well as supports and works in collaboration with national and international partners in doing the following activities:

  1. Conducting teacher trainings on oral health throughout the country                        
  2. BOHC trainings (Training Primary Health Care Workers on how to do extractions/ oral health promotion and Atraumatic Restorative Treatment using GIC)        
  3. Oral health promotion programs for Female Health Care Volunteers from different parts of Nepal.
  4. School Oral Health Program in  schools which includes making the parents, teachers and the students become aware of the importance of teeth as well as give them knowledge about common oral health problems 
  5. Run and advocate for yearly brushing program in schools
  6. Advocate for the use of fluoride vehicles
  7. Develop educational material development on oral health
  8. Establishment of an Oral Health Setup in Chattiwan, Hattisude
  9. Supervision and monitoring of the past work through collection of reports
  10. Act as a consultant to the Ministry of Health and population in the field of Oral Health

B. General Health Programme

HDSN also looks to work in the field of General Health Programmes. The programs have just started and at present HDSN looks to conduct :

  1. School health camps in schools in remote areas.
  2. Provide sanitation and hygiene support in schools with a view to prevent various diseases   

C. Education programme

HDSN aims to work in the field of education . It has currently started working for deprived children. Most of the work in education is being done in Chattiwan. There, HDSN looks to work in the following fields:

  1. Helping in setting up for a good environment in schools with ECDC (Early Childhood Development Centres) program  
  2. Provison of educational and learning materials to the schools
  3. Scholarships to the deserving and needy students    

D. Advocacy Programme     

HDSN also has been working in the following fields:

  1. Child club formation
  2. Female group formation
  3. Coordination and networking with other local groups and NGOs
